Jakarta, March 8, 2025 – BEM Fikom Untar organized the “Open School 2025: Pelangi” event at Pelangi Nusantara Learning House in East Jakarta. With the tagline “Together, We Color the World!”, this initiative aimed to foster social awareness and promote the advancement of education in Indonesia.
Open School is a regular program by BEM Fikom Untar designed to provide educational access to children in need while instilling social responsibility values. This year, BEM Fikom Untar collaborated with Valentina Palmarini Nugrahaningsih Sastrodiharjo, the founder of Pelangi Nusantara Learning House, with support from AkuBaca by Kompas Gramedia and Standard x Pascola. This collaboration highlights that education is a shared responsibility and thrives through collective social awareness.
Open School 2025: Pelangi symbolizes diversity and the potential of children, each possessing their own unique “colors” for a brighter future. “We want children to feel they have a place to grow, learn, and dream big. Education is not just about academics; it is also about shaping strong and confident characters,” stated the organizing committee.
In a warm and joyful atmosphere, the children engaged in various fun activities that fostered creativity and instilled essential values. One of the main activities was the 3R session (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle), aimed at cultivating environmental awareness from an early age by teaching children how to manage waste wisely. Additionally, a Tote Bag Painting session allowed them to express their creativity through eco-friendly fabric painting.
The sense of togetherness deepened as the children and students sang “If You’re Happy and You Know It” and “Laskar Pelangi” together. These songs were chosen to encourage and motivate the children to remain confident in pursuing their dreams. The event radiated happiness and warmth, demonstrating that education is not solely about academics but also about character building, social responsibility, and unity.
With this event, BEM Fikom Untar hopes to inspire children by showing that every individual has extraordinary potential to achieve their dreams. This initiative proves that care and collaboration are the keys to creating a better future. With the spirit of “Together, We Color the World!”, it is hoped that more people will be inspired to contribute to building a brighter future for Indonesian children. (BEM/MN)
