The Faculty of Communication Science, Universitas Tarumanagara (Fikom Untar), once again held its annual event, Practitioners Week 2025, carrying the theme “Digital Marketing Communication in Practice.” The event took place on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Auditorium, 17th Floor, Hall A Building, Campus 2, Universitas Tarumanagara. Organized annually, this event aims to strengthen the link between academia and industry while supporting the vision and mission of Fikom Untar, which upholds the HEPI values: Humanism, Entrepreneurship, Professionalism, and Integrity.
This year’s event invited two distinguished speakers specializing in digital communication and corporate communication to share their insights and experiences with students. The main speakers were Indah D.P. Pertiwi, Head of Corporate Communication and CSR at Nusantara Infrastructure Tbk, and Hary Lebang Sarangnga, Sales Director of PT Katbek Sinergi Indonesia.
The event began with an opening led by the MC, Manda Aulia Az Zahra, followed by a welcome speech from the Dean of Fikom Untar, Dr. Riris Loisa, M.Si. In her remarks, Dr. Riris emphasized the importance of such activities in equipping students with practical knowledge that aligns with the rapid developments in today’s digital landscape.
The first presentation was delivered by Indah D.P. Pertiwi, who shared her insights on the role of corporate communication in companies. She elaborated on the responsibilities of corporate communication, strategies for digital communication through social media platforms, and how Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs can support brand image. Indah also discussed the importance of media engagement in building and maintaining a company’s reputation in the digital age. She did not overlook the challenges faced by companies in optimizing digital channels, while also highlighting digital PR strategies involving influencers, press releases, and digital campaigns.
The second session featured Hary Lebang Sarangnga, who delved into the challenges and opportunities faced by communication graduates in the technology era. He pointed out major challenges such as rapid technological change, information overload, and the recurring crisis of public trust in digital environments. On the other hand, Hary also emphasized the vast opportunities available in the growing creative and digital media industries.
Hary underlined the essential competencies required of communication graduates, including strong literacy, data analysis skills, and soft skills development. To succeed in the professional world, he encouraged students to improve their public speaking abilities and focus on building personal branding.
This event not only provided students with fresh perspectives but also served as a bridge connecting academia and industry—giving students the opportunity to better understand the demands and expectations of the professional world. (MN)
