Fikom Untar Holds Professional Certification to Prepare Students for the Workforce

Jakarta, June 24, 2025 — The Faculty of Communication at Universitas Tarumanagara (Fikom Untar) organized a Professional Certification Program in the fields of Advertising, Journalism, and Public Relations, held from June 16 to 24, 2025. This initiative is part of Fikom Untar’s strategic effort to equip students with practical skills and professional recognition to meet the increasingly competitive demands of the job market.

The three certification areas were conducted in collaboration with national professional certification bodies. The Advertising Certification was held in cooperation with LSP Periklanan Indonesia and CAAP (Certified Advertising Associate Program), while the Journalism Certification was conducted in partnership with IJTI (Indonesian Television Journalists Association). For the Public Relations Certification, Fikom Untar collaborated with the Indonesian Public Relations Professional Certification Body (LSPPRI).

Participants consisted of Fikom Untar students who underwent a series of training sessions and competency assessments based on the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI). The certification process included technical skills assessments, portfolio evaluations, and interviews with certified assessors.

Dean of Fikom Untar, Dr. Riris Loisa, M.Si., emphasized the importance of professional certification as a form of official recognition of student competence.

“We want Fikom Untar graduates to not only have a strong academic foundation but also to be professionally certified. This will be a valuable advantage as they enter the communication industry, which demands specialized skills and job readiness,” she stated.

The program was enthusiastically welcomed by students. Michelle Augustine, a Public Relations certification participant, shared that the experience broadened her understanding of industry standards.

“This certification was truly challenging and made me feel more prepared for the professional world. I now understand what is practically required in the field,” she said.

Meanwhile, Eldiani Febyola, a participant in the Advertising certification, expressed that she gained valuable insights from experienced assessors.

“The assessments were thorough and highly relevant to actual work in the creative and advertising industries. It’s a crucial stepping stone for my future career,” she noted.

Through this certification program, Fikom Untar aims to enhance student confidence and competitiveness across various professional roles—whether as journalists, PR practitioners, content creators, or professionals in the advertising and digital media industries.
