Jakarta, July 25, 2025 — The Faculty of Communication Science, Universitas Tarumanagara (Fikom Untar), in collaboration with the Indonesian Cancer Awareness Foundation (YPKI), held a cancer awareness seminar on Friday, July 25, 2025. The session featured YPKI Consultant Dian Prapti, Amd. Kep., who delivered an in-depth presentation on prostate cancer, cervical cancer, and breast cancer to the Fikom Untar academic community.
This event aimed to raise public awareness about the importance of identifying cancer risk factors, recognizing early symptoms, and taking preventive action. In her presentation, Dian explained that the main contributors to the rising number of cancer cases in Indonesia include genetic factors, unhealthy lifestyles, and environmental influences such as exposure to chemical and physical agents. Currently, an unhealthy lifestyle is considered the leading cause of cancer.
“Prevention is better than cure,” emphasized Dian Prapti. She underlined the importance of preventive measures such as maintaining a healthy and balanced diet, avoiding foods containing carcinogenic substances, quitting smoking, and exercising regularly.
In addition, the public is encouraged to receive immunity-boosting vaccinations such as the HPV vaccine. Dian also introduced natural preventive alternatives through the consumption of plants that contain anti-cancer compounds, particularly RIP (Ribosome Inactivating Protein). This compound is known to block and eliminate cancer cells down to the root without harming the surrounding healthy cells. Some examples of RIP-rich plants include soursop leaves (35% RIP), tea mistletoe (50% RIP), and white turmeric (95% RIP).
The seminar also highlighted YPKI’s financial aid program for cancer survivors, offering both moral and material support for those currently battling cancer. Through this initiative, Fikom Untar reaffirms its commitment to public health education, particularly in promoting preventive efforts against cancer.
