Jakarta, August 6, 2025 — To welcome the Odd Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year, the Bachelor’s Program in Communication Studies, Faculty of Communication, Universitas Tarumanagara (Fikom Untar), held a Faculty Coordination Meeting on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. This routine agenda aims to ensure academic readiness while aligning teaching policies and curriculum development strategies.
The meeting was led by the Head of the Bachelor’s Program in Communication Studies, Dr. Sinta Paramita, S.I.P., M.A., and attended by both permanent and adjunct lecturers of the program. In her remarks, Dr. Sinta emphasized the importance of understanding and re-implementing the core values that underpin Fikom Untar’s educational development, namely HEPI: Humanist with an Entrepreneurial Spirit, Professionalism, and Integrity.
“HEPI values must be continuously reflected in our attitudes, teaching methods, and relationships with students. This is not just a slogan, but a working principle that distinguishes Fikom Untar graduates in the professional world,” Dr. Sinta asserted.
Reaffirming Vision-Mission and Curriculum Relevance
One of the main focuses of the meeting was to reaffirm the vision and mission of both the faculty and the program, ensuring all academic staff share a common understanding of the institution’s direction. This alignment is crucial in light of the rapid changes in the communication industry and the demand for graduates who are adaptable to evolving challenges.
In addition, a thorough evaluation of the previous semester’s teaching and learning processes was conducted. Lecturers were given the opportunity to provide input on academic delivery—covering technical aspects, pedagogical approaches, and classroom dynamics.
The discussion also addressed updates and alignment of the Impactful Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum, which emphasizes not only learning outcomes but also the meaningfulness of the academic process for students and the broader community. Furthermore, the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program continues to be strengthened as part of a flexible, relevant, and outward-looking educational strategy.
Dean: Lecturers Must Be Role Models and Balance Keepers
The Dean of Fikom Untar, Dr. Riris Loisa, M.Si., delivered a key message to all faculty members present. She highlighted the strategic role of lecturers—not only as educators but also as role models of values and ethics within the academic environment.
“We must be role models for students in punctuality and mutual respect. Let us also safeguard the mental, physical, and spiritual well-being of both ourselves and our students in the classroom. These are also concerns highlighted by the Ministry of Higher Education,” said Dr. Riris in her reflective remarks.
She further encouraged lecturers to be more attentive to students’ emotional and psychological conditions and to create classrooms that are inclusive, welcoming, and empowering. In today’s post-pandemic digital era, education is not only about knowledge transfer but also about holistic guidance for young individuals in their formative years.
Commitment to Quality and Collaboration
More than an administrative gathering, this meeting served as a moment of reflection and collaboration among faculty members. Lecturers shared experiences, challenges, and innovations in teaching that can enrich and strengthen Fikom Untar’s academic atmosphere.
Through this coordination meeting, Fikom Untar reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improving educational quality, strengthening character values, and ensuring that all academic processes are conducted professionally, humanistically, and impactfully.
