Jakarta, 23 December 2025 — The Faculty of Communication Science, Universitas Tarumanagara (Fikom Untar), welcomed a visit from SMA Negeri 4 Pontianak on Tuesday, 23 December 2025. The visit aimed to provide students with firsthand insight into university life while introducing them to the field of communication studies.
The group of students, accompanied by supervising teachers and representatives of the students’ parents, was warmly received by the academic community of Fikom Untar at Campus I of Universitas Tarumanagara. The accompanying teachers included the Founder of Jurnalis SASTRA and Vice Principal for Public Relations of SMAN 4 Pontianak, Ai Marhayanti, M.Pd., as well as the Treasurer of PBP SMAN 4 Pontianak, Norvi Fatmawati, S.P., M.Si. The event began with a welcoming address from a representative of the faculty leadership, who expressed appreciation for the visit.
Following the opening session, the students participated in a trial class held in a classroom, featuring the topic of Citizen Journalism delivered by the Academic Manager of Fikom Untar, Septia Winduwati, S.Sos., M.Si. During this session, students gained an understanding of the differences between citizen journalism and professional journalism, including the roles of practitioners, work processes, and ethical responsibilities in disseminating information. The discussion also covered the future of citizen journalism amid the development of digital media, including challenges related to information accuracy and credibility.
After the class session, the activities continued with a tour of various laboratory facilities, including the Television Laboratory (TV Lab), Photography Laboratory, and Radio Laboratory. In this session, students were not only introduced to the functions and equipment of each laboratory but also had the opportunity to try simple hands-on practices in accordance with the characteristics of each facility.
Ai Marhayanti, M.Pd., expressed her खुशी and appreciation for the warm welcome extended by Fikom Untar. “We are very happy to be so warmly received by the Faculty of Communication Science, Universitas Tarumanagara. The trial class was highly inspiring and provided engaging information. We also fully support the programs offered by Fikom Untar,” she stated.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Undergraduate Communication Studies Program at Universitas Tarumanagara, Dr. Sinta Paramita, S.I.P., M.A., conveyed her appreciation for the visit. “We greatly appreciate the visit from SMA Negeri 4 Pontianak to the Faculty of Communication Science. We hope this activity provides a clear overview of the study programs we offer and inspires students to pursue higher education in their fields of interest.”
The visit was conducted with great enthusiasm and interactivity. Through this activity, it is hoped that the students of SMA Negeri 4 Pontianak gained new experiences and insights into university life and became more motivated to continue their education at the higher education level, particularly in the field of communication studies.
