Exploring the World of Public Relations in the Era of Technological Convergence

Jakarta, April 28, 2025 – Fikom Untar successfully held its annual Practitioners Week 2025, bringing students face-to-face with experienced professionals from the communication and digital marketing industry. The event took place at the Auditorium, 17th Floor, Hall A Building, Campus 2 of Universitas Tarumanagara, and featured two notable speakers who are also members of SAMA INDONESIA.

The first session featured Bambang Mugono, CEO and Founder of Udari, who delivered a presentation titled “Rethinking PR in the Age of Tech Convergence.” In his talk, Bambang emphasized how the convergence of technology has reshaped media landscapes and rapidly transformed the practices and roles of public relations.

“PR today is not just about delivering facts, but about strategically shaping perception and being accountable for public trust,” said Bambang. He also stressed that modern PR practitioners must be agile, capable of responding to viral issues, and skilled in utilizing various digital platforms and key opinion leaders (KOLs) effectively. The session included an interactive discussion with students, focusing on the responsibilities of PR professionals in the face of media transformation.

The second session was led by Yunus Halim Tjhin, CEO and Founder of Naikreatif.com, who dissected marketing communication strategies in the digital era. Yunus emphasized the importance of adaptive communication rooted in digital empathy.

“In facing intense competition and digital challenges, communication students must sharpen their critical thinking, embrace digital empathy, and develop a fast-response mindset,” Yunus explained. He also addressed hot topics such as the tension between human creativity and artificial intelligence, and how students can enhance their communication skills to stay relevant.

Through Practitioners Week 2025, students are expected to gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics of the communication industry and be better prepared to enter the ever-evolving professional world. (MN)
