Fikom Untar Inspires Cirebon Youth to Become Future Digital Creators

Cirebon, October 6, 2025 – The Faculty of Communication Science, Universitas Tarumanagara (Fikom Untar), held a Community Service (PKM) program at SMA Santa Maria 1 Cirebon, aimed at equipping young students with the knowledge and skills to navigate the challenges of the digital and artificial intelligence (AI) era.

The highly engaging event featured a series of interactive training sessions on digital creative communication, public speaking, and digital storytelling. Through these sessions, students learned how to craft compelling social media storytelling, produce creative content, and develop confidence in public speaking.

Four lecturers from Fikom Untar served as speakers, each presenting a topic aligned with the latest developments in communication technology and the creative industry. Dr. Sinta Paramita, S.I.P., M.A., Head of the Undergraduate Communication Studies Program, opened the training with a session titled “Creative Cirebon Generation: AI-Based Digital Product Workshop for High School Students.”

In her presentation, Dr. Sinta explained how artificial intelligence can be utilized to create innovative digital works. “AI is not a threat, but a creative tool that can expand imagination and enhance productivity among young generations,” she stated.

Dr. Wulan Purnama Sari, S.I.Kom., M.Si., Deputy Head of the Communication Studies Program, continued with a session titled “Digital Communication and Creative Monetization: Affiliates, Ads, and Brand Collaborations.” She emphasized the importance of understanding monetization strategies for digitally active youth. “Creativity can become an economic opportunity when combined with the ability to read trends and build ethical collaborations,” Dr. Wulan remarked.

In another session, Septia Winduwati, S.Sos., M.Si., Academic Manager of Fikom Untar, led an interactive workshop titled “Public Speaking Storytelling Training for Students.” This session encouraged participants to build their confidence in speaking publicly and delivering engaging messages. “The ability to speak well is key to influencing audiences — both on stage and in the digital world,” Septia explained.

Meanwhile, in the junior class, Lydia Irena, S.I.Kom., M.Si., Lecturer at Fikom Untar, introduced students to the concept of “Digital Storytelling in Social Media Content for the Young Generation.” She highlighted that every piece of digital content carries a story and a message that can inspire others. “Digital storytelling is not only about visuals, but about how our message can touch hearts and create impact,” Lydia shared.

The students showed great enthusiasm throughout the event, especially during the hands-on sessions on content creation and public speaking simulations. Through this program, Fikom Untar reaffirmed its commitment to sharing knowledge and inspiring the younger generation to become creative, ethical, and globally competitive digital creators.

The PKM activity at SMA Santa Maria 1 Cirebon reflects Fikom Untar’s dedication to implementing the #KampusBerdampak (Impactful Campus) values — continuously fostering collaboration between academia and the community to build a positive and innovative communication ecosystem. (LI)
