Fikom Untar Alumni Share Insights on the Strategic Role of Corporate Communications in the AI Era

Jakarta, October 28, 2025 — The Faculty of Communication, Universitas Tarumanagara (Fikom Untar), once again held its Kapita Selekta Class, featuring two inspiring alumni as guest speakers: Ancilla Kyra and Wina Febriani. Both currently serve as Corporate Communications professionals at PT GTS Internasional Tbk, a subsidiary of Humpuss Group, one of Indonesia’s pioneering companies in the maritime and energy industries.

Held at the Main Building, Untar Campus 1, the session served as a valuable learning opportunity for students to gain firsthand insights into the practice of corporate communication from professionals working in strategic industries.

During the discussion, Kyra and Wina elaborated on the crucial role of Corporate Communications in building a company’s reputation, maintaining public trust, and bridging communication between management and various stakeholders. They also highlighted how the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed the landscape of corporate communication.

“In today’s digital era, a single tweet on social media can trigger a reputation crisis. That’s why communication teams must always be ready to respond quickly and accurately,” said Wina Febriani. Meanwhile, Ancilla Kyra emphasized that AI should not be seen merely as a threat but also as an opportunity for communication professionals to analyze issues and data in real time, enabling more effective and responsive communication strategies.

Through this session, Fikom Untar students were encouraged to see how the communication theories they learn in class—such as issue management, reputation management, and crisis communication—are applied in the professional world. The discussion also shed light on the importance of maintaining a “human touch” in every communication strategy, even as technology continues to advance.

The Kapita Selekta Class also served as a platform for students to gain inspiration and motivation from alumni who have successfully built their careers in the communication industry, while strengthening professional networks across generations of Fikom Untar graduates.

By featuring relevant and experienced speakers, Fikom Untar reaffirms its commitment to equipping students with knowledge, skills, and perspectives that align with the evolving needs of today’s communication industry.
