Jakarta, October 13, 2025 \u2014 The Faculty of Communication Science, Universitas Tarumanagara (Fikom Untar), officially opened Practitioner Week 2025 with the theme \u201cCommunication in the Innovation Ecosystem: Bridging Academia, Industry, and the Public.\u201d This annual event serves as a collaborative platform between the academic world and the communication industry to strengthen synergy in innovation, creativity, and the relevance of communication studies to the needs of society and industry today.<\/p>\n

The opening ceremony took place at the Auditorium of Building M, Campus 1 Universitas Tarumanagara, featuring the Kembang Kipas Dance performed by Padmanagara Universitas Tarumanagara, symbolizing the spirit of culture, creativity, and unity in the communication field.<\/p>\n

The event continued with welcoming remarks from Dean of the Faculty of Communication Science, Dr. Riris Loisa, M.Si. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of Practitioner Week as a bridge between theory and practice in communication. \u201cFikom Untar is committed to providing continuous dialogue between academia and industry so that students can better understand the real dynamics of the communication sector and become part of the national innovation ecosystem,\u201d said Dr. Riris.<\/p>\n

The first session featured Aliyah, S.S., M.L., Commissioner of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI), presenting a talk titled \u201cKPI as a Catalyst between Academia, Industry, and the Public.\u201d<\/p>\n

In her presentation, Aliyah highlighted the central role of higher education in building a sustainable and competitive innovation ecosystem. Amid rapid technological advancements, collaboration among universities, industries, and communities is crucial in driving innovation and generating creative solutions to various social challenges.<\/p>\n

Aliyah also emphasized KPI\u2019s role as a catalyst that strengthens connections between these three key elements. \u201cKPI can serve as a bridge linking universities, industries, and the public to improve the quality of national broadcasting sustainably. Through collaboration and synergy, we can create a media ecosystem that not only entertains but also educates, empowers, and enlightens the nation,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

The second session presented Agustinus Lee Martin, Executive Producer of SORE, with an inspiring talk titled \u201cDreams, Hard Work, and Luck.\u201d<\/p>\n

Agustinus began his session with an engaging analogy: comparing Google Maps to the guidance one needs to reach their dreams efficiently. He explained that achieving goals requires a clear starting point, a defined destination, adherence to directions, and sufficient fuel and vehicle. In the professional world, these are represented by skills, creativity, community, and connections.<\/p>\n

He went on to share his journey in the creative industry\u2014how persistence and networking led him to establish Project Slingshot and Slingshot Pictures, and to become the Executive Producer of \u201cSORE: Istri Dari Masa Depan\u201d, a film that garnered over three million viewers.<\/p>\n

Concluding his session, Agustinus offered an inspiring message to students:
\u201cMake sure you know your dreams and goals\u2014don\u2019t just follow others. Combine them with hard work, and I hope that whatever you wish for will come true.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the presentations, an interactive discussion was held to deepen the topics and provide an open forum for participants to ask questions. Through this activity, Fikom Untar hopes that students will not only gain theoretical knowledge but also receive motivation and practical guidance from industry professionals to pursue meaningful careers in the field of communication.
