A team of students from the Faculty of Communication Science, Universitas Tarumanagara (Fikom Untar), once again demonstrated their commitment to supporting cultural preservation through a Community Service Program (PKM) held at the Indonesian Kite Museum in Pondok Labu, South Jakarta, on Thursday, 18 September 2025. This activity aimed to help the museum strengthen its promotional and branding strategies through informative and engaging digital media using a profile video.<\/p>\n

The production of the profile video focused on showcasing the museum\u2019s uniqueness, cultural value, and educational activities. Through a communicative visual approach, the video was designed to introduce the history, collection, and the museum\u2019s role in preserving Indonesia\u2019s kite tradition to the wider public.<\/p>\n

The activity began with an on-site observation at the museum. The student team carried out filming that highlighted the atmosphere, kite collections from various regions, and the educational activities regularly held for visitors. The documentation process emphasized aesthetic aspects and communication messages to ensure the final video reflects the museum\u2019s character and cultural values.<\/p>\n

In addition to filming, the team also conducted interviews with the museum managers and owners to gain deeper insights into the history and vision of this cultural institution. \u201cWe must not abandon kite-playing because it is an inheritance from our ancestors,\u201d said Mr. Asep, one of the museum staff members, during the interview. His message reflects the spirit of preserving tradition, which forms the foundation of the Indonesian Kite Museum\u2019s existence. The cultural values passed down through a simple game like kite-flying hold historical and philosophical significance for the nation\u2019s identity.<\/p>\n

The production process of the profile video was carried out collaboratively by the students, starting from scriptwriting to filming and final editing. The result is a three-minute video that harmoniously combines visual, audio, and narrative elements. The video serves not only as a promotional tool but also as a public educational medium on the importance of preserving and appreciating traditional culture.<\/p>\n

This activity also provided a direct learning opportunity for Fikom Untar students to apply their knowledge. Through this PKM program, Fikom Untar hopes to continue strengthening collaboration with cultural institutions across Indonesia.
