{"id":3177,"date":"2026-05-06T12:00:17","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T05:00:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fikom.untar.ac.id\/?p=3177"},"modified":"2026-05-13T08:45:24","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T01:45:24","slug":"smkim-2026-a-concrete-step-by-fikom-untar-in-bridging-academia-and-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fikom.untar.ac.id\/en\/2026\/05\/06\/smkim-2026-a-concrete-step-by-fikom-untar-in-bridging-academia-and-industry\/","title":{"rendered":"SMKIM 2026: A Concrete Step by Fikom Untar in Bridging Academia and Industry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jakarta, April 29, 2026 \u2014 The Faculty of Communication at Universitas Tarumanagara once again held the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seminar Mahasiswa Komunikasi, Industri, dan Masyarakat<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (SMKIM) 2026, carrying the theme <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBuilding Careers in the Industry: The Synergy of Skills, Experience, and Communication.\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This event was specifically designed for sixth-semester FIKOM Untar students who are currently undertaking internships, as a provision to prepare them for entering the professional workforce.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SMKIM 2026 serves as a platform for self-development by integrating three essential aspects required in today\u2019s industry: practical skills, real-world work experience, and effective communication abilities. Through a series of presentations, interactive discussions, and experience-sharing sessions led by practitioners, participants were encouraged to understand industry dynamics while enhancing their career readiness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event featured speakers from diverse professional backgrounds who provided comprehensive perspectives on the professional world. Cornelius Valdomero Elleazar, M.Psi., Psychologist, a <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Psychologist &amp; Junior Officer Development<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, shared insights on mental readiness and personal development in facing industry challenges. In addition, Dr. Leila Mona Ganiem, M.Si., CPR, CICS, Vice Chairperson of ISKI and an academic, emphasized the importance of strategic communication in building sustainable careers. Also present was Kimberly Surjanto, S.I.Kom., <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">E-commerce Manager<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at Omnicom Media Group, who shared practical experiences and insights into the dynamics of the digital industry and modern marketing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3179\" src=\"https:\/\/fikom.untar.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Untitled-design-3-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fikom.untar.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Untitled-design-3-1.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/fikom.untar.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Untitled-design-3-1-1280x720.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/fikom.untar.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Untitled-design-3-1-980x551.jpg 980w, https:\/\/fikom.untar.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Untitled-design-3-1-480x270.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) and (max-width: 1280px) 1280px, (min-width: 1281px) 1920px, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SMKIM 2026 was also welcomed by one of Untar\u2019s Faculty of Communication Science lecturers, Dr. Ahmad Junaidi, S.S., M.Si., who stated that the event was designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and the professional world.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cStudents are not only required to possess theoretical knowledge, but also to apply it in real-life situations and communicate their ideas and perspectives professionally,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The SMKIM 2026 program also highlights the importance of collaboration between knowledge, practical application, and real action in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By encouraging students to not only understand theoretical concepts but also implement them through hands-on experience and meaningful contributions during their internships, the program fosters a holistic approach to career development. This synergy is expected to shape graduates who are not only industry-ready but also socially responsible and capable of contributing to sustainable development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Throughout the event, participants gained valuable insights, ranging from the development of soft skills such as interpersonal communication and teamwork, to strategies for building personal branding and navigating workplace challenges. In addition, students\u2019 internship experiences became a key focus of discussion, allowing them to share lessons learned and reflections with one another.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through the implementation of SMKIM 2026, Fikom Untar hopes that students can optimize their internship experiences as a first step toward building sustainable careers. This event also reflects FIKOM Untar\u2019s commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically competent but also ready to compete in an ever-evolving industry.
