Fikom Untar Strengthens Internationalization through Academic Visits to National Chung Cheng University and National Chengchi University, Taiwan

Taiwan, July 23, 2026 – As part of its commitment to advancing the internationalization of higher education and expanding its global partnership network, the Faculty of Communication of Universitas Tarumanagara (FIKOM Untar) conducted academic visits to two leading universities in Taiwan: National Chung Cheng University (CCU) in Chiayi and National Chengchi University (NCCU) in Taipei. The initiative marks a strategic step by FIKOM Untar in fostering international collaboration aimed at enhancing the quality of education, research, community engagement, and the development of students’ and lecturers’ competencies on a global scale. Amid the increasingly competitive and digitalized landscape of higher education, international collaboration has become one of the key pillars in strengthening institutional excellence.

The first visit took place at National Chung Cheng University (CCU), one of Taiwan’s leading research universities, renowned for its strengths in multidisciplinary scholarship and a strong research culture. The FIKOM Untar delegation was warmly welcomed by the university’s leadership and faculty representatives, who introduced the institution’s vision, internationalization strategies, and various academic programs that have established partnerships with universities around the world. The discussions were highly interactive, covering strategic issues in higher education development, including strengthening research culture from undergraduate to postgraduate levels, curriculum development, the integration of digital technology into teaching and learning, and improving the quality of internationally recognized scientific publications. Through this visit, the delegation gained valuable insights into how a supportive academic environment fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, student creativity, and impactful research that benefits society.

The delegation then continued its academic visit to National Chengchi University (NCCU) in Taipei, an internationally recognized institution with outstanding reputations in communication, media, international relations, social sciences, business, and public policy. The visit served as an important opportunity to strengthen institutional ties while exploring broader avenues for future academic collaboration.

During the discussion session, NCCU presented its educational development strategy, which adopts a student-centered learning approach by emphasizing critical, collaborative, creative, and adaptive thinking skills in response to the rapid advancement of communication technology. The university also shared its experiences in implementing research-based learning, strengthening industry partnerships, and offering various international programs that provide students with valuable cross-cultural and cross-border learning experiences.

More than just an institutional visit, the program reflects FIKOM Untar’s commitment to continuously transforming into a faculty that is responsive to global developments. Through direct engagement with higher education institutions that possess extensive experience in internationalization, FIKOM Untar gained valuable insights into academic governance, research development, the effective use of educational technology, and strategies for building an innovative and sustainable educational ecosystem.

Furthermore, international collaboration opens broader opportunities for students to develop global competencies by interacting with academic communities from different countries, understanding the dynamics of intercultural communication, and strengthening their adaptability in an increasingly international professional environment. Through this synergy, FIKOM Untar not only reinforces its position as a globally oriented higher education institution but also remains committed to producing graduates with international perspectives, professional competencies, critical thinking skills, and the readiness to meet the challenges of the communication industry in the era of digital transformation.

With a spirit of collaboration and innovation, this academic visit is expected to mark the beginning of a long-term partnership that will make meaningful contributions to the advancement of higher education, the development of communication studies, and the enhancement of Indonesia’s human resources on the global stage.
