Fikom Untar Equips Skin Health Group with Effective Communication and Ethical Viral Marketing Strategies

Jakarta, August 8, 2026 – The Faculty of Communication Sciences at Universitas Tarumanagara (Fikom Untar) conducted a Community Service (PKM) program with Skin Health Group in Jakarta on Saturday (August 8, 2026). Under the theme “Effective Communication: Listen, Connect, and Influence,” the program equipped participants with communication knowledge and skills that can be applied to building customer relationships while developing marketing strategies amid the increasingly competitive skincare and beauty industry.

The PKM program was conducted by Dean of Fikom Untar Dr. Sinta Paramita, S.I.P., M.A., Head of the Undergraduate Communication Science Program at Untar Dr. Wulan Purnama Sari, S.I.Kom., M.Si., Secretary of the Communication Science Program Septia Winduwati, S.Sos., M.Si., and Manager of Research & Community Service at Fikom Untar Lydia Irena, S.I.Kom., M.Si.

The program was designed to connect communication science perspectives with the real-world needs of industry professionals. The materials not only addressed how to deliver messages effectively, but also explored how communication can build trust, understand consumer needs, strengthen long-term relationships, and support creative and responsible digital marketing strategies.

In her session, “Active Listening & The Art of Meaningful Communication: Building Trust, Increasing Sales, and Expanding Business Networks,” Septia Winduwati emphasized the importance of shifting the sales communication paradigm from simply offering products to helping customers find solutions that meet their needs.

One of the key skills highlighted was active listening—listening to understand rather than simply listening to respond. In a sales context, listening also serves as a way to gain insights into customers’ needs. Rather than focusing solely on explaining product ingredients or features, participants were encouraged to understand customers’ needs and offer relevant solutions that provide value, confidence, and a positive customer experience.

In addition to interpersonal communication, the PKM program explored digital marketing strategies through the session “From Medical Trust to Viral Growth: Ethical Viral Marketing Strategies for the Skin Health Industry,” delivered by Dr. Sinta Paramita. The session covered digital marketing communication, consumer behavior, content marketing, and the use of social media algorithms.
Dr. Sinta emphasized that digital growth must go hand in hand with credibility and responsible communication, particularly in the skin health industry, where consumer trust plays a crucial role.

“Amid the rapid development of social media, the challenge is not only how content can go viral, but also how we can maintain trust. For the skin health industry, effective communication must combine creativity, credibility, and ethics so that the messages delivered not only capture attention but also provide value to society,” said Dr. Sinta.

Through this PKM program, Fikom Untar encourages the practical application of communication science in addressing the needs of industry partners. The collaboration with Skin Health Group also reflects the university’s contribution to strengthening the capacity of communities and business professionals through knowledge that is practical, relevant, and adaptable to the evolving digital communication landscape.

The program concluded with a post-seminar evaluation to assess participants’ development in understanding the topics covered throughout the sessions. By combining active listening, relationship building, positive influence, and ethical digital marketing strategies, the program is expected to support Skin Health Group in developing increasingly effective and sustainable communication with its customers.
