Jakarta, October 5, 2026 – Improving lecturer quality is an important aspect for higher education institutions in maintaining the quality of education while strengthening academic services. In support of this effort, the Faculty of Communication Sciences at Universitas Tarumanagara (Fikom Untar) held a professional development session featuring Prof. Dr. Puji Lestari as the speaker on October 5, 2026, at Fikom Untar. The session provided an opportunity to develop a shared understanding of lecturer quality improvement and the development of study programs. Through the session, study program management teams were expected to map existing achievements, identify areas that still need improvement, and develop more structured and sustainable action plans.
“Lecturers play an important role in creating quality learning processes, developing knowledge through research, and contributing to society through community service activities. Therefore, improving lecturer quality needs to be carried out comprehensively by considering various aspects that support the implementation of their academic responsibilities,” said Prof. Dr. Puji Lestari.
Improving lecturer quality is closely related to higher education institutions’ efforts to ensure that the educational process continues to meet students’ needs and keep pace with developments in knowledge. In this context, proper documentation needs to be supported by accurate data and verifiable activities. Documentation of teaching, research, community service, professional development, and various lecturer achievements can help study programs provide a comprehensive overview of quality development. Such data and documentation can also serve as a basis for evaluating achievements while identifying areas that require further improvement. Through regular evaluation, lecturer quality development can be directed according to actual conditions and needs.

Improving lecturer quality also requires the involvement of various stakeholders within the higher education environment. University leaders, lecturers, academic staff, students, alumni, and partners all contribute to building a quality educational ecosystem. Coordination among stakeholders is necessary to ensure that implemented programs, available data, and evaluation processes support one another. With a shared understanding, quality development efforts can be carried out in a more focused manner rather than being limited to short-term achievements.
Beyond serving as part of the evaluation process, lecturer quality improvement should also be viewed as an ongoing effort. Technological developments, changing industry needs, and the evolving field of communication require lecturers to continuously update their knowledge and competencies. This is essential to ensure that the learning provided to students remains relevant to developments in knowledge and the needs of society. The continuous development of lecturer competencies is also expected to strengthen the quality of learning while supporting research and community service activities.
Through the professional development session with Prof. Dr. Puji Lestari, Fikom Untar continues to encourage evaluation and development efforts that strengthen lecturer quality and study program quality. The session is expected to go beyond the knowledge gained during the event and be followed up through development initiatives aligned with the needs of Fikom Untar. This effort reflects Fikom Untar’s commitment to fostering a culture of continuous evaluation and improvement, allowing the quality of lecturers, learning, and academic services to continue developing and providing meaningful benefits to students and society.
