Connecting Alumni Networks, Fikom Untar Opens Opportunities for Future Collaboration

Jakarta, September 25, 2026 — The Faculty of Communication Sciences at Universitas Tarumanagara (Fikom Untar) strengthened its relationship with alumni through the event “Connecting Alumni Networks for Future Collaboration,” held on September 25, 2026. The event served as a platform to strengthen ties while creating opportunities for collaboration in support of educational development, student career advancement, and contributions to society.

Dean of Fikom Untar, Dr. Sinta Paramita, S.I.P., M.A., emphasized the importance of maintaining sustainable relationships with graduates. Alumni experiences in the professional world are considered a valuable source of knowledge that can enrich the learning process while helping students better understand the demands and challenges of the workplace.

Alumni networks play a strategic role in the development of communication education, which continues to evolve alongside changes in technology, media, and societal behavior. Through exchanges with alumni, Fikom Untar can gain insights into the competencies required by the industry. At the same time, students can gain a more practical understanding of how communication knowledge is applied across various professional fields.

The cross-generational gathering also opened opportunities for more concrete forms of collaboration, ranging from career mentoring, guest lectures by industry practitioners, internship opportunities, and entrepreneurship development to research and community service partnerships.

Alumni involvement can also expand students’ access to learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Alumni can serve as discussion partners in preparing portfolios, understanding workplace culture, developing professional ethics, and exploring diverse career paths. The close relationship between alumni and students is expected to help students make a more structured transition into the professional world.

Beyond benefiting students, the relationship between alumni and their alma mater also creates opportunities to share knowledge, identify potential partners, and develop ideas together. Networks that connect alumni across different generations and areas of expertise can serve as a foundation for collaboration in various fields, including digital literacy, communication support for business owners, social campaigns, and community empowerment.

Sustaining the alumni network is an important part of the spirit behind this initiative. Regular communication, mapping alumni expertise, and developing joint programs can serve as follow-up steps to ensure that the relationships established through the event grow into structured collaborative programs that deliver tangible benefits.

Through “Connecting Alumni Networks for Future Collaboration,” Fikom Untar invites its alumni to continue playing an active role in the journey of their alma mater. With their experience, expertise, and shared commitment, the alumni network is expected to become a space for creating new opportunities for students, institutional development, and broader contributions to society.
