The speaker was Inayati Suryani, S.I.Kom., M.Si., Vice President of Strategy & Data at vosFoyer, and the forum was moderated by Dr. Yugih Setyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., a lecturer in the program. Dean of Fikom Untar, Dr. Sinta Paramita, S.I.P., M.A., noted that the Academic Forum is part of a series of scholarly activities held throughout October 2026. Alongside the forum, the series includes Practitioner Week, which gives students insight into developments and practices in professional communication.
“The Academic Forum serves as a platform for developing students’ intellectual insight through encounters with practitioners and academics. We hope it broadens students’ perspectives in understanding various communication issues, both theoretically and practically,” said Dr. Drs. Moehammad Gafar Yoedtadi, M.Si., Head of the Master’s Program in Communication Science at Fikom Untar.

To achieve impactful communication, she outlined five stages: message, meaning, trust, action, and impact. The stages are interconnected, starting from ensuring the accuracy and relevance of information, building trust through supporting evidence, and providing clear direction so recipients can take action aligned with organizational goals.
She also stressed the importance of understanding recipients’ needs before crafting a message. Organizations should identify the change they want to achieve, recognize who will be affected, and anticipate potential communication barriers. With this approach, messages can be designed to be more targeted and better suited to the problem at hand.

The Master’s Program in Communication Science at Fikom Untar holds the Academic Forum regularly, twice per semester. Through such activities, Fikom Untar continues to provide a learning space that connects academic perspectives with practitioner experience, while strengthening students’ understanding of the strategic role of communication in supporting organizational goals.
