Jakarta, June 8, 2025 – The climate crisis is no longer a distant threat—it is a present reality. Acknowledging the urgency of this issue, an event titled “Doomsday 2025: Escape The Dooms, Save The Day” was held as an educational campaign packaged in an interactive game format to raise public awareness, especially among the younger generation, about environmental and sustainability issues.
Doomsday 2025 was organized by students of the Faculty of Communication at Universitas Tarumanagara and took place at M Bloc Space – Creative Hall. Open to the public, the event was hosted by Mulan Almira and Nathaniel Christianto as Masters of Ceremony. The opening remarks were delivered by Magdalena Vania, Chairperson of Doomsday 2025, who shared the motivation behind the event as a youth response to the increasingly alarming climate crisis. In her speech, Vania emphasized, “Big changes always start with small steps, and today’s youth play a crucial role in shaping the future of our planet.”
The centerpiece of the event was an escape room game themed around a post-climate crisis world. In this immersive experience, participants faced a series of challenges related to issues such as air pollution, drought, renewable energy, and food security. The game encouraged participants not only to think critically and collaborate as a team, but also to understand firsthand the impacts of climate change and the importance of sustainable solutions.
Through this simulation, attendees were invited to reflect on the fact that the environmental crisis is not merely a scientific discourse, but a real threat that will directly affect daily life if not addressed promptly.
In addition to the escape room, the event also featured booths showcasing eco-friendly products by students, local entrepreneurs, and community groups committed to sustainability.
To complete the atmosphere, the audience was entertained with live music performances by local musicians, delivering songs filled with the spirit of life and change. Music served not only as entertainment, but also as a heartfelt medium to convey important messages.
With a spirit of collaboration and creativity, Doomsday 2025 aims to spark environmental awareness among young people. Through its educational approach and immersive experiences, the event not only helped participants grasp the climate crisis but also inspired real action in their daily lives. The hope is that the spirit of change ignited at this event will continue to spread, encouraging more individuals to take part in preserving the sustainability of our planet.
