Students of the Faculty of Communication, Universitas Tarumanagara, successfully held an event titled SIGNature 2025 under the grand theme “Express Through Signs” on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Hotel Neo Puri, West Jakarta. The event served as an educational and inspirational platform that embraced the spirit of inclusivity and creativity through a series of interactive activities. As part of the Implementation of Communication Programs course and the larger Communication Week 2025, the event featured two main segments: a talk show and a creative workshop.
SIGNature 2025 was specially designed to support several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, Goal 4 – Quality Education, and Goal 10 – Reduced Inequalities, by promoting social inclusion and empowering communities with disabilities.
The talk show featured Nadhifatun Nurrur Rahma, Human Capital Business Partner at Koneksi Indonesia Inklusif (KONEKIN)—a community actively advocating for equality and inclusion across all sectors. In a warm and insightful discussion, participants gained a deeper understanding of the importance of inclusive communication, particularly in addressing the challenges and stereotypes faced by individuals with disabilities.
The talk show went beyond theoretical discussions by sharing real-life stories and experiences on bridging communication between people with different abilities. Participants were encouraged to broaden their perspectives and deepen their empathy toward often marginalized social conditions. A highlight of the session was an introductory sign language lesson, guided by representatives from KONEKIN. Participants had the opportunity to learn basic sign language gestures as a form of appreciation and a concrete step toward inclusive communication.
Following the talk show was a creative workshop held in collaboration with Bersibersi Lemari, a community initiative under Yayasan Teman Hebat Berkarya. Participants were invited to create unique bag charms using curated scrap fabrics provided by the foundation. This workshop served not only as a creative art activity but also as a tangible expression of sustainability and empowerment.

By using leftover fabrics as the main material, the activity highlighted the message that creativity knows no bounds, especially for individuals with disabilities who have consistently demonstrated their ability to create functional and aesthetically valuable products. In addition, Bersibersi Lemari hosted a special booth at the venue, showcasing and selling various handmade items crafted by people with disabilities. The booth represented a real commitment to inclusive and environmentally friendly creative economies.
As a lively finale, the guest star HalloHexa delivered an uplifting and energetic performance. Their presence went beyond entertainment, creating an emotional connection that brought together all attendees regardless of background, ability, or differences. HalloHexa performed songs that conveyed themes of hope, optimism, and the courage to express oneself. Through music and inclusive interaction, their performance reinforced the event’s core message: art and expression are universal languages accessible to all. The atmosphere was alive not just with rhythm but with the heartfelt messages conveyed in each performance moment.

Through SIGNature 2025, students of Fikom Untar demonstrated that disabilities are not barriers to creativity. With the right support and an inclusive environment, every individual has the potential to express themselves and contribute positively to society. Initiatives like SIGNature 2025 prove that creating spaces for equal participation is a meaningful step toward a more open and compassionate society.
The event also served as a real-world learning experience for students to apply the values of inclusive communication and to cultivate empathy toward underrepresented groups. SIGNature 2025 stands as a tangible example of how communication, empathy, sustainability, and creativity can come together in a single impactful event. It is hoped that the spirit embodied in this event will continue to resonate and inspire more initiatives that foster a more inclusive and equitable society.
