Fikom and FEB Untar Collaboration: Empowering MSMEs through Communication and Digital Marketing Strategies at Rumah BUMN Denpasar

Denpasar, August 8, 2025 – The Faculty of Communication Science, Universitas Tarumanagara (Fikom Untar), in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Tarumanagara (FEB Untar), organized a multi-faculty Community Service Program (PKM) focusing on digital marketing and marketing communications at Rumah BUMN Denpasar, Bali. The event attracted micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) entrepreneurs from the Denpasar area, who demonstrated strong interest and active participation throughout the program.

The PKM activity, titled “Digital Marketing Communication for MSMEs through Digital Content and Storytelling”, began with an interactive seminar session led by Dr. Wulan Purnama Sari, S.I.Kom., M.Si., Secretary of the Undergraduate Communication Studies Program at Untar. In her presentation, Dr. Wulan emphasized the importance of building narratives through authentic and consistent storytelling as a means of digital marketing communication to establish strong business branding.

The session continued with Dr. Mei Ie, S.E., M.M., a lecturer from FEB Untar, who discussed the significance of human resource management in running MSMEs. Dr. Mei Ie highlighted that the success of a marketing strategy depends not only on external aspects such as promotion and branding but also on the internal management of MSMEs, particularly in developing human resources that are adaptable to digital transformation.

The final session was led by Dr. Hetty Karunia Tunjungsari, S.E., M.Si., another FEB Untar lecturer and Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service at Universitas Tarumanagara (LPPM Untar). She guided participants through consumer-based marketing strategies and digital content creation via an interactive discussion. During this session, participants shared their business experiences and received constructive feedback. At the request of enthusiastic attendees, Dr. Hetty also provided a brief demonstration on using the Canva design application for business promotion purposes.

“We hope that Rumah BUMN will be open to future collaborations with us to host more initiatives,” remarked Dr. Hetty.

Through this PKM initiative, Fikom Untar and FEB Untar reaffirm their commitment to educating and empowering MSME actors to adapt to technological developments and market trends, thereby promoting the independence and sustainability of local MSMEs. This cross-disciplinary collaboration stands as a concrete example of Untar’s contribution in bridging academic knowledge with real-world community needs, particularly in strengthening the creative economy ecosystem in the region.
