Jakarta, August 13–14, 2026 – The Faculty of Communication Sciences (Fikom) of Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) held the 2026 Fikom Untar New Student Campus Life Orientation Program (PKKMB) as an initial step for new students to familiarize themselves with the academic environment and prepare for their university journey. Carrying the theme “EXPLORA: Exploring Meaning, Cultivating Creativity,” the program encouraged new students to explore knowledge, values, experiences, and their personal potential as they embarked on their higher education journey.
The theme EXPLORA represents the journey of new students in discovering the meaning behind various academic and non-academic experiences. Through the spirit of Exploring Meaning, Cultivating Creativity, students are encouraged not only to understand their identity and develop adaptable character, but also to create work that is creative, collaborative, and capable of making a meaningful contribution to Fikom Untar.
The 2026 Fikom Untar PKKMB was held over two days, featuring a series of activities designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of campus life. On the first day, new students were introduced to the Fikom Untar environment, including faculty members and staff, academic systems and regulations, facilities, as well as the faculty’s vision and mission. This introduction served as an initial foundation for students to understand the environment in which they will learn and grow throughout their university experience.
On the second day, new students gained a closer perspective on the professional world through sessions with Fikom Untar alumni and practitioner lecturers. The sessions explored the connection between classroom learning and the demands and realities of various professional fields. The presence of alumni and practitioners provided new students with insights into how communication knowledge can be applied in real-world settings, while also introducing them to the diverse career opportunities they can explore after completing their studies.
Beyond academic orientation, the 2026 Fikom Untar PKKMB also served as a space for students to build connections and express their creativity. Each student group had the opportunity to perform dramas and group cheers as a form of self-expression, teamwork, and collaboration. The program also included an introduction to Fikom Untar’s student organizations, allowing new students to discover various opportunities for personal development and ways to contribute to the faculty community.
Through this series of activities, the 2026 Fikom Untar PKKMB aimed to become a starting point for new students to get to know, understand, and discover the various possibilities available throughout their university journey. EXPLORA is not merely a theme, but an invitation for every student to dare to explore, find meaning in every process, and transform their experiences into meaningful creations.
