Jakarta, October 14, 2024 – Fikom Untar collaborated with Cerita Cantik for the Odd Semester 2024/2025 Practitioner Week. With the theme “The Importance of Personal Branding and How to Monetize It,” Cerita Cantik was represented by Senior VP of Commercial Gracia Asadianika and Account Manager Rahman Hakim Djail, who shared tips and tricks on managing personal branding and various ways to maximize profits from it. The event was held at the Auditorium of Building M, Campus 1 Untar.
“Everyone needs personal branding because it is essential, especially in today’s highly connected and competitive world,” said Gracia.
Gracia also mentioned that personal branding allows us to have a unique advantage over others, build trust and credibility. Moreover, personal branding helps us create professional opportunities, attract others, and support us in achieving our goals.
“Identify your uniqueness, strengths, and weaknesses. Find out what makes you stand out, especially in your field. What are your unique skills, talents, and experiences?” Gracia encouraged the participants to engage in self-identification and reflection.
In addition to identifying uniqueness, Gracia explained further steps in managing personal branding, including clarifying our passions and being authentic yet adaptable. Passion acts as fuel, driving us to work harder and stay motivated in achieving our goals. Authenticity builds trust and long-lasting relationships, while adaptability is also crucial because industries, trends, and audiences continuously evolve.
Continuing Gracia’s presentation, Rahman elaborated on various ways to monetize the personal branding we have built. Rahman began by explaining that social commerce is a social media platform integrated with e-commerce. The platforms for monetizing personal branding include in-app shopping, user-generated content, livestream shopping, and affiliate marketing.
In in-app shopping, users can purchase products without leaving social media, while user-generated content refers to how influencers and regular social media users share product reviews that help others make purchasing decisions. Livestream shopping, popular these days, allows sellers to showcase their products live and interact with audiences on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and others. Affiliate marketing, which is also trending, involves creators promoting products and boosting a brand’s sales in exchange for commissions.
To leverage these trends, Rahman encouraged participants to find their niche and unique personal style. “Create a portfolio, stay up to date with trends, and develop the skills we have. When creating user-generated content, ensure it remains honest and authentic. Then, be a good host when conducting livestream shopping. Show confidence and manage your energy,” Rahman advised.
Through this Practitioner Week activity, it is hoped that Fikom Untar students will be able to manage their personal branding effectively to achieve optimal results. Fikom Untar also hopes that its students will become authentic and honest individuals in everything they do. Fikom Untar, Bukan Main! (LI)
