EMBRACE: The Art of Being You, Growing Together in Diversity

Jakarta, February 27, 2026 — The Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Communication Science, Universitas Tarumanagara (BEM Fikom Untar), once again held an internal development activity for its members through the 2026 Internal Workshop program with the theme “EMBRACE: The Art of Being You.”

This workshop was designed as a space for reflection as well as strengthening for all members of BEM Fikom Untar. The 2026 Internal Workshop not only focused on enhancing organizational work capacity, but also emphasized the process of recognizing personal potential, understanding individual character, and fostering mutual respect within diversity.

Head of the Undergraduate Communication Studies Program, Dr. Wulan Purnama Sari, S.I.Kom., M.Si., in her opening remarks, emphasized that every individual has uniqueness that cannot be equated with others. She also conveyed that understanding oneself is the first step to working optimally in a team, and that diversity within an organization is not an obstacle but a valuable asset that enriches ways of thinking and problem-solving.

As the main speaker, Fikom Untar lecturer Lydia Irena, S.I.Kom., M.Si., delivered material focusing on the dynamics of individual differences within organizational work environments.

“Differences are not obstacles in an organization, but spaces for mutual complementarity. Effective communication is not about having the same thoughts, but about finding common ground among diverse perspectives,” she stated.

The workshop atmosphere was interactive and highly participatory. Participants were divided into several groups to work on case studies depicting real organizational situations. Each group was asked to discuss, negotiate, and formulate the best solutions from diverse viewpoints. The discussions revealed varied thought dynamics, which in turn enriched the process of finding solutions.

The enthusiasm of participants was evident from their active involvement throughout the sessions. Differences in character and background did not hinder discussions; instead, they became strengths that drove more mature and comprehensive decision-making. Through this simulation, participants not only understood theories but also directly practiced empathetic communication and collaboration.

The workshop concluded with recognition for the best group and a documentation session as a moment of togetherness. Through this activity, it is hoped that all members of BEM Fikom Untar will continue to grow within an organizational environment that is empathetic and appreciative of differences. (AK)
